Kayak & SUP Rentals in Central Stockholm

Reserve your rental

Everything started with me opening Kafe Kajak in 1999, located in a beautiful old house in Kungsholmen, Smedsudden. The house was built for ferrymen in the 1880:s, before Västerbron, the bridge between Kungsholmen and Södermalm was built. The main focus of the project was the café, but since I was an active member of the Stockholm Kayak Club which was located nearby, I also wanted to make kayaking available for people outside of the sport. Therefore, I chose to get a couple of kayaks and initiate the kayak rental from Kafe Kajak!

After ten years in the café I reorganized the business to mainly focus on the kayaks rather than the café, and we switched location to a beautiful little boathouse by the water. To this day we are still renting out kayaks in the same location. We have since the beginning had the goal of having the best possible gear, adjusted after the customers experience level and ambition.

We are an independent rental, which means that we buy kayaks from different distributors and choose the once that we think are the best for our customers. Since 2014 we have also focused on SUP, stand up paddling board, which we have called Stockholm-SUP.

Very friendly, great way to see Stockholm

I saw some people kayaking while walking around so decided to come here on a whim in the evening. They were very accommodating, and said I could keep it out as long as I wanted. I did a really nice loop around kungsholmen. I didn't have cash and they were able to get a credit card payment to work, but the system seemed pretty flaky so it's probably better to bring cash if you can.

Best way to see Stockholm!

We booked a tandem kayak about 2 hours in advance and were taught how to use the sea kayak rudder and we were on our way! There was also a map handy and the employee gave us great advice on where to go for the amount of time we wanted to kayak. It is a little bit expensive, but we would do it in a heartbeat!

Family kayak fun

Good quality equipment, very helpful advice & a great way to see Stockholm. We have kayaked twice before and found the start across the strait a little intimidating, but once we got over to the first island we had a great time and would happily do it again.

Excellent option!

This is a great option if you wish to explore the city from the water. Staff was friendly and helpful and there was a wide range of kayaks to suit all levels. Recommended! Ps. Take the trip around Långholmen and past the City Hall. Absolutely beautiful.

Something really different - great fun!

Really friendly guide that helped us get water-ready and guided us on a trip around the lake including a canal section. We had a group of mixed ability and we were helped at the appropriate level throughout. It was a very windy day and that added to the excitement but what a great way to see some of the city from a very different perspective.
